Shinya Sugimoto’s Resemblance has come to us at a good time. Many facets of the global situation seem dark and loud. Resemblance speaks softly and carefully. It allows the listener to reflect and look inward. This music is a direct extension of the artist and in this way it is inseparable from him, however, you’re not excluded. It could be a springboard from which you can take some time to talk to your own self. In whatever way it is taken, Shinya’s Resemblance remains a significant albeit peaceful work for piano and electronics in a period where such things might be considered necessary.
